7 SPIRITUAL PRACTICES TO GUIDE YOUR DAY:

You can use these practices to create peace and flow in your day.

Morning Pages:

A technique popularized by The Artist's Way, morning pages are an excellent way to clear your mind and gain intuitive insights into whatever you’re pondering. Wake up a little earlier than usual (30 minutes helps) and start journaling as soon as you’re up. Allow yourself to spill stream-of-consciousness thoughts onto the page. Grocery lists? Put them down! Questions about your purpose? Yep, write them. Everything from the seemingly mundane to monumental. The intention is to allow yourself to empty your mind onto the page and bypass any inner censors. You’ll likely find yourself feeling clearer-headed throughout the day and more aligned through doing this practice.

Yoga Break:

Take a break during your day to practice Yoga. You can find many short Yoga practices on YouTube that can fit within your schedule, and don’t require much time– even 10 or 15 minutes can bring you heightened energy levels and connection throughout your day.

Perform an Act of Kindness:

Did you know that performing an act of kindness boosts serotonin (one of the brain chemicals responsible for happy feelings) for your brain, the person receiving the act of kindness, and anyone watching? 3-for-1!

Say Affirmations:

The language we use to speak to ourselves has a profound effect on our wellbeing. Take a few minutes to speak positively to yourself and affirm what you would like to feel in your life. If you think you don’t have enough time to do so, try doing it whenever you go to the bathroom. A few affirmations you can start with are “I feel good,” “I am powerful,” and “I am aligned with my highest self.” Feel free to get creative.

Ground in the Earth:

In society today, we can easily go long periods of time without touching our feet to the Earth. Take a moment to stand or walk barefoot in some grass, some sand, or anywhere you’d like to connect with the Earth. This practice can help neutralize any anxious energy you might be feeling, help you feel connected to the bigger picture, and help you feel supported.

Play:

Allowing the spirit and actions of play into our lives can release stress and boost creative energy. We spend much of our time in “fight or flight” mode, and for optimal health, it is best to shift into “rest and digest” mode. Crawling, moving around like a baby, and engaging in playful activities have been proven to get people out of “fight or flight” mode and recenter

Prayer of Gratitude:

What are 10 things you’re grateful for? Closing your eyes, and giving silent thanks for things big and small, even challenges you might be facing, works wonders for fostering feelings of peace within oneself.
